Summer in St. Vrain

As the countdown to summer winds down, students and teachers across the district are gearing up for camp season and it’s not too late to sign up. 
 
Performing arts, financial literacy and STEM camps are among the district’s summer programs that still have openings.

The Instructional Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC) is looking for additional members to join and help us refine our district-wide plan for instructional technology.

Young Ameritowne on the Road Summer Camp

For the second summer in a row, the Young Americans Center for Financial Education, a Denver-based pioneering nonprofit, will lead its award-winning, week-long Young Ameritowne on the Road Summer Camp, for students entering third through sixth grade, at Sunset Middle School. The traveling camp is a recent innovation, bringing the camp, which covers financial literacy, local government and workplace readiness, from the Denver center to offsite locations.

Experience robotics in St. Vrain on March 9

Do you ever miss that sense of exploration and curiosity you had as a kid? If the answer is ‘yes,’ we have the event for you. St. Vrain Valley Schools is hosting its first ever VEX Robotics Showcase from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 9. Open to the public, the event an evening of the same fun, hands-on robotics play, learning and experimentation that St. Vrain students relish day-in and day-out, in both class and extracurricular settings.

Elementary Literacy

In Spring 2016, St. Vrain Valley Schools completed the two-year process of selecting a new keystone curricular resource for elementary literacy instruction. Through selection and pilot processes driven by classroom teachers - including input from community members as well as the biliteracy, special education, and professional development offices - the district selected ReadyGen to aid teachers in building effective holistic practices.

I Teach Because...

Think back to when you were a student, back-to-school shopping, finding your classroom, and the exciting lessons that would soon fill your day. The first day of school jitters that were calmed by the friendly, welcoming face, and celebrating the “ah ha” moments when you finally figured out how to solve the problem. Then there was the time in kindergarten, when you went to the restroom but couldn’t remember the way back to your classroom. As panic set in, that friendly face walked around the corner and they knew exactly where your classroom was.

Longmont second-graders engineer a way to help homeless people

A second-grade project about how to solve the problem of frostbite turned into a clothing drive for the homeless at Rocky Mountain Elementary School.
